Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue

Making a difference . . .

One dog at a time!

About Us

Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue (COSR) is a team of volunteers dedicated to assist Shetland Sheepdogs in need. Rather than using a kennel situation, we use foster homes.  This allows us to provide a typical home setting for abandoned, lost, and unwanted shelties until we are able to match them up with their new forever homes.  This allows us to evaluate the needs and temperament of each sheltie individually to aid in their successful placement. We are also a sanctuary for shelties that are unable to be placed for health or temperament reasons. We assist dog owners with recovering lost dogs, regardless of breed along with educating people to promote responsible dog ownership.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is solely funded by donations, adoption fees, corporate sponsors and the fundraising efforts of our volunteers to provide the care and rehabilitation for these wonderful dogs.

COSR will currently only place dogs within Central Ohio, through partnerships with other rescue agencies, we can refer you to reputable rescues throughout all of Ohio and our neighboring states.

Started in 2000, COSR is in our eleventh year of operation, caring for and placing nearly 400 shelties in loving forever homes during this time. Our commitment to the dog doesn’t end when the contract is signed, we feel each family we place a dog into becomes part of our ever-growing family. As a family we have fun together, we host several family fun events each year, an annual family reunion, trips to dog parks, and recently held our first ever charity motorcycle run and concert that we hope to make an annual event. Some of our volunteers take their dogs to local nursing homes to visit.

You’re welcome to browse our web pages to learn more about our organization, activities, volunteers and programs, or to learn more about the sheltie breed. We hope you will join us at one of our events and consider joining us in our work and become a part of our wonderful family.

These eyes say it all.

Laci Marie was lucky. She was adopted and is in a loving home now. Help make a

difference in a dog’s life -- adopt from shelters and rescues.
